Hmm... it seems most people who draw Byakuren would render her purple hair down to her back. But if we go strictly by ZUN art, the purple hair only at best reaches her neck – which would validate this short hair here having only the tips blonde.
Might be Harukawa Moe's influence. As even Alphes followed this detail in Hopeless Masquerade.
