An observation. 🤨 Chijō (地上) is basically used to refer to the Earth. However, in some contexts, "the surface" feels more right such as when paired with Chitei (Underworld) below and Tenkai (Heaven) above – though do note that despite the relative directions, these two regions are effectively separate realms not unlike Meikai (Netherworld) and Chikushōkai (Animal Realm).
